Spanish writer, journalist and novelist.
Borni in Polanco (Cantabria) in 1833, son of Juan Francisco de Pereda Fernández de Haro and of Bárbara Sánchez de Porrúa dernández de Castro. He was the youngest of 22 siblings.
He studied baccaulaureate in Sandtander's High School, and in 1852 he moved to Madrid to study Artillery, which he will abandon and get back to Santander; there he decided to try with theatre. Time later, he will found El Tío Cayetano, where he will expose his Carlist ideology, and will take him to represent the traditionalist movement as a deputy in the Courts (1871). He reached the fame with the edition of Tipo y paisajes.
He was friends with Marcelino Menéndez and Benito Pérez Galdós, and member of the literary realism. Between his works, highlights Sotileza, Al primer vuelo y Peña Arriba.
He married Diodora de la Revilla, with whom he had eight children, but only half of them got to an adult age.
He passed away in Santander in 1906.
