Spanish physicist, professor, academic and politician.

Born in Paniza (Zaragoza) in 1891. Son of the doctor Miguel Palacios Cabello. He studied baccaulaureate in Huesca's High School. He started his universitary studies in 1907 in Zaragoza, in the Sciences Faculty, continuing them in Barcelona, where he graduated in Exact Sciences and Physics with an extraordinary prize; was a student of Esteban Terradas.

He obtained a doctorate in Physic Sciences in 1914 with an extraordinary prize in the Central University of Madrid, being Blas Cabrera Felipe his director of the thesis titled: Determinación de las constantes ópticas de los cristales birrefringentes.

The next year, he was named assistant professsor of General Physics in the Sciences Faculty, and in April 1916, he obtained by competition the Terminology Chair of Madrid's Central University, becoming the youngest teacher to obtain a chair in Madrid: at the age of 25. Between 1916 and 1918, he expanded his studies in Leiden's University (Netherlands). He returned to Spain and combined teaching with the investigation in the Laboratory of Physic Investigations of Blas Cabrera. He entered the Royal Academy of Exact Sciences, Physics and Naturals, where further on he will become the president. He worked in the recently created National Institute of Physics and Chemistry (INFQ), known as Rockefeller Institute.

He spent the Civil War in the Spanish capital. In the 40s, he moved to Lisbon, where he became the Physics director of the Oncology Institute, dependent of the Gulbenkian Foundation. In 1953, he entered the Royal Spanish Academy; he also did in the Medicine Academy. He passed away in the Spanish capital in 1970.
