Spanish military engineer.
Born in 1871. He entered the Military General Academy of Toledo in 1888, and subsequently continued his studies in the Engineers Academy of Guadalajara, where he was promoted to lieutenant in 1894. After serving the Regiment of Sappers and Miners in Seville, he was sent to the Command of Engineers of Melilla, and he was put in charge of the commandant's works. There, he wrote an housing estate project of lands, and another of military pavilions for housing. In the following years, while he moved up the employment ladder, he went occupying several destinations -Primer Regimiento de Zapadores Minadores en Logroño , Compañía Regional de Zapadores de Canarias , Comandancia de Ingenieros de Ceuta-, and making important constructions -fortification of the Morrazo peninsula, construction of batteries in Gran Canaria, etc.-.
Between 1906 and 1913, and 1916 and 1919, he was a teacher in the Engineers Academy of Guadalajara. He wrote manuals and text books - Cálculo de probabilidades (1909), Mecánica general (1912), La regla del cálculo (1913) and Elementos de nomografía (1915), among others- that had different editions. He patented the Alcayde system of calculation rules, to adapt to the military formation and the necessities of the students.
In 1913, as a commander, he was entrusted with the command of the Mixed Group of Engineer of Larache, taking part actively in a number of arms actions in the area during that year. Two years later, he directed in Arcilla the construction of the Military Hospital and the improvement of defensive infrastructures.
New promotions - lieutenant colonel in 1919, colonel in 1926, - and destinations- Corps Command in Badajoz, General Command of the Corps of Engineers in the 2nd Military Region, Regiment of Miner Sappers No. 3, Command of Engineers on the island of Menorca - led him to take part in works on barracks, port defence, etc., in several places. He passed away in Seville in 1930.
Along his career, he received important decorations: Military Merit crosses, of María Cristina, of the Navy Merit and of San Hermenegildo, the medal of Morocco with Larache pin. Moreover, he was named Knight of the Legion of French honour.
