The Federal Democratic Republican Party, also known as the Federal Party, was a Spanish party of a federalist and republican nature created in 1868 and led by Francisco Pi y Margall. His successor Eduardo Benet was unable to prevent the party from splitting in May 1905. Its reconstitution took place in 1930 with the appearance of the Federal Republican Party or Federal Spanish Party, regarded as the legatee of the Federal Democratic Republican Party. Upon the proclamation of the Second Republic (1931), it obtained 16 deputies, including Joaquín Pi y Arsuaga, the son of Francisco Pi y Margall.
