He was a Polish, Jewish doctor, photographer a member of the International Brigades. In 1928, he moved to France in order to study Medicine and he became an activist for the French Left Alliance, "Front Populaire". When the Spanish Civil War broke out, Rosenstein signed up as a volunteer in the International Brigades and he used the name ¿Emil Vedin¿ as a pseudonym. He was a member of the "Cuerpo Militar de Sanidad2[1] as a capitain and he was part of the Battalion Dabrowski of the XI international Brigade. Moreover, he was part of the Health system of the Armored Units of the International Brigades and he worked as an interpreter for Russian soldiers. When the International Brigades broke up, Negrín gave Rosenstein and other members of the Brigades the Spanish nationality. When he went back to France, "Vedin" took care of the community of Spanish children and he left a photographic documentation of that. After France was occupied by the Wehrmacht, he had to leave the country. Together with his sister, Gitta, he went to Casablanca and he got on board of the "Santo Tomé" which destination was Mexico. He became a citizen of Mexico and he worked giving medical consultations in Mexico City, when he died in 2001. Here, he carried on the edition of the Dictionary of Pharmaceutical Specialties which is considered as a popular handbook updated every year in Mexico and in other countries in South America.
