History:

Article 12 of the Law of Repression of Freemasonry and Communism issued on the 1st March 1940 (Official State Gazette nº 62, 03/02) laid down the establishment of a special court for the prosecution of such crimes. The Decree issued on the 4th June 1940 establishes the Special Court for the Repression of Freemasonry and Communism, whose former president was the Carlist Marcelino de Ulibarri Eguilaz, who chaired in turn the State Delegation for the Recovery of Documents. By another Decree of the 31 March 1941, Marcelino de Ulibarri leaves office to hand over his position of chairman to the general Andrés Saliquet Zumeta. In 1963, the Special Court for the Repression of Freemasonry and Communism was abolished in favour of the Liquidation Commission, which remained operative until 1971.
