History:

She was the daughter of Concepción Fernández de Villegas and Cristino Cebrián, professor of Anatomy at the University of Salamanca. She married the ambassador and lawyer Luis de Zulueta in 1908. He was the defendant of Julián Basteiro (his brother-in-law, since he was married to Dolores Cebrián, Amparo's sister). She had five children: Carmen, Concepción, Juan Antonio, Julián and Carlos. She worked as a teacher in a nursery school in Madrid. She was granted a scholarship by the Committee for the Promotion of Studies in 1911 to visit France, Belgium and Holland and to discover the different teaching models for preschoolers. She was named teacher at the Instituto-Escuela's* preparatory section by the Committee in 1918. In 1925, she was granted another scholarship together with the Scholar Group Cervantes to study the organization and methodology of the New School. From that moment, she cut off the communication with the Committee for the Promotion of Studies. However, she was still linked to it because of her husband, who was related to this institution due to his determination to dignify Spanish pedagogy. The Spanish Civil War caught her unaware while she was in Rome due to her husband's work as an ambassador of the Spanish Republic at the Holy See.
