In 1959, he was hired as second responsable for photography in the film "De repente, el último verano", directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz and partly filmed in Begur. That job was a key point for his future career. In 1995, the town hall of Begur named him his cherished son. The work of Joseph Carreras has continued with his sons and daughter Dito, Ramón, Elena, and his grandchild Matías. Thanks to his camera, Josep Carreras left a record on the evolution of Begur in the second half of the 20th century.
