Spanish Law professor, lawyer and politician. He was the son of Francisco Álvarez Álvarez and Bárbara González-Posada Menéndez. He got married to Sara Quintana y Bertrand.
In 1878, he started his academic training studying the degree of Law at the University of Oviedo and carrying out a doctorate at the Universidad Central in Madrid. One of the most important moments of his academic career was when he became professor in Roman Law at the University of Oviedo and professor of Proceedings.
In addition, he joined Oviedo’s and Madrid’s Bar Associations while combining his profession as a lawyer with his political duties and his teaching labour. He was also dean of the Oviedo’s Bar Association as well as the representative and president of the Spanish Congress of Deputies. He re-established the Liberal Democrat Republican Party. He died in the prison Modelo in Madrid during the Spanish Civil War.
