Legajo 157. 1809-1813. Capitanes Generales de la Isla de Cuba correspondencia con los Gobernadores de la Florida.1 A, 28 cm., 900 letters. The letters of the legajo cover the years indicated. The months come in order, most of them being in carpetas. The legajo is made up entirely of letters directed to the commandants of West Florida, by the captains general of Cuba, Marqués de Someruelos (1809, jan.-1812, mar.), and Juan Ruiz de Apodaca (1812, apr.-1813, dec.). Subjects treated: Most of the correspondence consists of letters transmitting royal orders and decrees, and orders and resolutions of the Regency and Cortes. Many of these orders and decrees are printed. A large part of the
letters deal with military matters of the province. There are letters treating of the relations with the United States; the revolt in West Florida in 1811, and the attitude of the United States to the same; and notices regarding the state of affairs in the peninsula. There are also the three following documents: 'Inventario de los papeles, documentos y planos que existen en la comandancia de la Nueva Orleans, desde mayo de 1794, hasta octubre de mil ochocientos y tres¿¿ (Panzacola, may 26, 1810) ; ¿¿Inventario general de los papeles y planos que contiene [ ] de ingenieros de la Florida Occidental¿¿ (covers 1794-1803; Panzacola, may 26, 1810); and 'Estado de la España a fin de octubre de 1810' (en la imprenta de la Capitania General, Año de 1811)
