History:

Harold Harvey Lee was born on October 22, 1911, in New York City. He was married and worked as a Labor organizer. Since 1933, he was a member of the Communist Party of the United States of America.

He arrived in Spain crossing the Pyrenees on May 29, 1938, and served with the 15th International Brigade. Until August 10, 1938 he was with the Lincoln-Washington Battalion and since September 26, 1938, he was with 59th Battalion. He worked as infantryman, medic, and cook. His last unit was the Company 3 of the Lincoln-Washington Battalion as Private. He was wounded in action in the Ebro Offensive on August 7, 1938, by shrapnel and he returned to the US on December 20, 1938, aboard the “Ausonia”.
