History:

Kenneth Graeber was born on November 11, 1914 in Lawrence, Kansas. Attended the University of Kansas and was member of the Young Communist League (YCL) since September 1936.

He sailed on June 16, 1937 aboard of “Aquitania” and arrived in Spain on July 1, 1937. He served with the 15th Brigade, training first in the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion. Later he was sent to the 1st Evacuation Group, as ambulance driver.

He returned to the US on December 15, 1938 aboard of “Paris”. Graeber published privately one of the first studies of Spanish Republican currency. He died on February 20, 1996 in New York City.
