Azar, Joseph Harold was born on the 24th of December 1914 in New York City. He worked as an accountant and member of the Communist Party since 1935. He sailed from the United States on the 16th of January 1937 aboard the "Paris" to go to Spain. He joined the Lincoln Battalion and returned to the United States on the 13th of September 1937 aboard the "Normandie" (probably).
