Tabb, Herman L. was born on the 15th of May 1913 in Ukraine, Russia. He was Russian-Ukrainian-American and Jewish. He attended the University of North Carolina, the City College of New York and the Lewis Institute of Technology in Chicago from 1929 until 1935. He worked as Printer and proofreader at the New York Times. He joined the Communist Party in September 1935. He arrived in Spain on the 31st of January 1938 as stowaway. He served with the 15th International Brigade as platoon and section leader, machine gunner and translator as sergeant in the Company 1 and 2 of the Lincoln-Washington Battalion. He served at the retreats and in the Ebro Offensive. He died in 2007.
