History:

Levine, Sidney was born on the 11th (probably on 16th) of August 1911 in Stanford, Connecticut. He graduated from De Anza Community College with an Associate's degree in History. He joined the Marines and released due to being underage. He was with the United States Army in the 106th Regiment with the rank of Corporal and as Machine gunner between 1934 and 1937. He joined the Communist Party. He worked as Machinist and Seaman. He sailed from the United States on the 6th of February 1937 aboard the "Paris" and arrived in Spain on the 13th of February 1937. He served with in the Machine Gun Company of the Lincoln Battalion of the 15th International Brigade in Jarama. He was injured in a truck accident on the 23rd of April 1937. He went to the Officers Training School. He served as Adjutant Commander of the Machine Gun Company of the Lincoln and Lincoln-Washington Battalion in Brunete. Later he was promoted to Company Commander. He served in the Special Machine Gun Company of International Brigades as Company Commander in Teruel and in the Ebro Offensive. He was sent to France for "political" work but returned during Retreats. He returned to the United States on the 20th of December 1938 aboard the "Ausonia". He went to the Second World War with the United States Army as Corporal. He served as part of the Japanese Army of Occupation. He died in July 1999 in California.
