Curtis Bernhard was a German film director.

He directed his first movie in Hollywood in 1940. After that, he worked for many years in Germany as director until Second World War, when he moved to USA and worked with famous companies like Warner Bros and MGM. His first movie was "Crossroads" (1938). The first movie he made in the USA was "Dead man's shoes" (1940). He quickly earned a good reputation as director in 1940. He directed Humphrey Bogart in one of his most popular movies, "Conflict". The next year he made another great production with Barbara Stanwych, "My reputation" (1946). All those movies were produced with Warner Brothers and he later moved to MGM, where he did not have too much fame, and at last he changed to RKO, where he started to decline. In his filmography, we can highlight "Possessed" (1947) and "A stolen life" (1946).

He died the 22nd Febraury in Los Angeles at the age of 81.
