History:

Spanish teacher who was exiled. She was born in Gironella (Barcelona) in 1902. Her parents separated when she was still a child, so she was sent to a religious institution. Her father was always involved in politics, and was a liberar republican and Mayor of Gironella.

She studied teacher education in Madrid in the "Escuela Superior de Magisterio" between 1924 and 1928. She passed the Civil Service examination and worked in the Lope de Rueda School, where she was director as well. When the Spanish Civil War started in 1936, she was in Bilbao and went back to Madrid in September, collaborating with the "Universidad Popular". In the same year, she got married Ricardo Mora and worked in "Ayuda Infantil", putting into practice the pedagogic ideas of Giner de los Ríos.

When the war was over, she moved to France along with refugee children and entered Perpignan concentration camp, but she managed to escape with the help of some friends. She then focused on making an inventory for "Ayuda Infantil" of all the spanish refugee children in France.

She left France and went to the Dominican Republic, where worked in a school in Santo Domingo. Some months later, she went to Cuba and then to Mexico, arriving in October 1940. She worked as teacher in Mexico in several schools like the Luis Vives and the Madrid School. She became Mexican citizen and retired in 1967. She was member of the "Mariana Pineda" women group, helping the resistance against Franco. She also was member for some time of the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSUC). She went back to Spain for holidays in 1962, and definitely settled in Barcelona in 1973.
