History:

Spanish writer. Member of the Generation of '27. Son of Francisco Bergamín, Minister of Alfonso XIII by the beginning of the 20th century. He met his future wife Rosario Arniches in Hondarribia, daughter of the writer and theatre author Carlos Arniches. He boosted relevant cultural companies such as the journal of thought and literature Cruz y Raya, founded in 1933, of which he was manager and editor, and in which his partners from the Generation of '27 wrote. He was member of the permanent bureau of the Spanish Section of the Universal Peace Union.

Exiled in Mexico after the Civil War. He managed to get into Mexico with a special card through Nuevo Laredo and he received help from the SERE. Already into the Mexican exile, he directed the magazine España Peregrina, together with his friend Juan Larrea, as well as the Board of Culture of the Spanish Republic in Mexico.
