Spanish lawyer and politician. He started his academic career studying Law at the Universities of Zaragoza and Barcelona. Andreu started working as a lawyer in Reus.
Andreu was a member of Juventudes Nacionalistas (Nationalist Youth), and fostered the republican nationalism. He also took part in the foundation of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (Catalonian Republic Left-Wing) in 1931, and in the Catalonian autonomous statute or "Estatuto de Núria". During his position as the president of the Regional Court of Barcelona and the Court of Cassation, he suffered an anarchist attack. Andreu firstly went into exile to Paris, and then he moved to Mexico. There he cooperated with Indalecio Prieto on the management of the yate "Vita" funds. Later on, he moved to Tanger and founded the Real-Estate Bank of Morocco (BIM) and the Real-State and Commercial Bank of Morocco (BIMM). Clandestinely, Andreu supported the movements against the Spanish dictatorship.
In 1964, Andreu came back to Spain and was arrested. He worked as a consultant in Banca Catalana (Catalonian bank), and fostered the Catalonian Assembly. He quitted ERC and joined PSC-Congrés, the Catalonian Socialist Party-Congress. Andreu was elected president of the Parliamentarian Assembly, where he leaded the "Comisión de los 20", which wrote the Statute proposal. Andreu worked also as a deputy for Barcelona during the Constituent Legislature, and also as a senator during the I and II Legislatures.
Finally, he died in 1993 in Madrid.
