History:

Juana Quilez Martía was a Spanish librarian and archivist. Her father was an archivist too. She studied History at the Central University of Madrid and she joined the Corps of Archives, Libraries, and Museums. After been assigned to different places such as the Archivo de Hacienda (Treasury Office), in 1952 she permanently settled in Guadalajara with her family. Here, she worked at the Provincial Public Library, which she would end up running. Moreover, she conducted the recently opened Provincial Museum and the Provincial Historical Archive of Guadalajara. After her retirement in 1976, she remarkably carried out social work in the Province of Guadalajara, collaborating with the foundation of nurseries and retirement homes. She died in Guadalajara in 2004.
