José Antonio Martínez Bra was a Spanish archivist.
He was son of Mariano Martínez Jarabo, Professor at the Huesca Institute, and of Elvira Bara. He joined the Corps of Archivists, Librarians, and Archaeologists in 1941, of which his sister Asunción was also a member. He was Chief of the Counseling and Inquisition sections of the Archivo Histórico Nacional (AHN; National Historical Archive), of which he became Deputy Director. In addition, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Madrid Studies, as well as counselor of the Institute of Huesca Studies.
He has published several indexes and catalogs, and numerous articles and studies, especially on topics related to the 16th to the 18th centuries. Especially, he researched about the Duke of Lerma and his time.
