British politician and aristocrat. In 1899, she got married with the marquis of Tullibardine, who was appointed duke of Atholl in 1917. In 1923, Katherine obtained a seat at the British Parliament. During the Spanish Civil War, she declared herself as enemy of the national band, resigning from his seat as a protest against the non-intervention politics of the British government. She visited Spain during the War, giving thousands of children refuge in the United Kingdom. She did it through "National Joint Committee for Spanish Relief", from which she was its president. This Committee financed a part of the travel abroad the Sinaia, which help thousands of Spanish refugees to go into exile to Mexico on June 1939. Katherine's experiences inspired her work "Searchlight on Spain", published in 1938.
