Aragonese politician and professor. He was born in Huesca in a progressive family. At the age of 15 he joined the Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE/Spanish Socialist Worker's Party). In 1936, after his father was shot (military doctor loyal to the legitimate government of the Republic), Jaime Gaspar Auría moved to Zaragoza with his family, where he studied Philosophy and Letters and Teaching. He was dedicated to teaching (Director of the San Isidoro School, teacher at the School of Tourism of Zaragoza, Professor of Geography and History at the Miguel Servet Institute and at the Labor University of Zaragoza). In 1977 he was elected deputy for the Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE/Spanish Socialist Worker's Party) in the Constituent Cortes. He was also political secretary of the permanent committee of the Assembly of Parliamentarians of Aragon. Moreover, he held the position of vice president in the first Government of Aragon (1978‑79). In the professional field, he was Dean of the Illustrious Official Association of Doctors and Graduates in Philosophy and Letters and in Sciences (1973-1983), where he carried out a great work of recovery and study of Aragonese subjects. He organized the Federación de Colegios Profesionales de Aragón (Federation of Professional Associations of Aragon), which held the Congress of Aragonese Studies in 1976 and of which he was elected President. He was also a member of the Board of the University of Zaragoza.
