History:

Spanish lawyer, teacher, and politician. He graduated in Law from the University of Granada in 1964. He also completed an undergraduate degree in Rural‑Agrarian Sociology and in trade union studies. He worked as a teacher by passing the public examination and he was also the Vice Chancellor of the Colegio Mayor Francisco Franco of Madrid from 1964‑1967. Gervasio Martínez‑Villaseñor was also a rural planning sociologist at the Ministry of Agriculture.

Since the dictatorchip his association with politics began, because of his connection to the union structure of the regime. At a national level, he achieved a significant position in 1974 when he was appointed Director of the Obra sindical de Educación y Descanso. In 1976 he was proposed by the government of Adolfo Suárez for one of the most relevant positions, civil governor of Pontevedra. Moreover, he was member of the Permanent Commission of the Trade Union Congress, which automatically entailed the position of deputy on behalf of the trade union.

Once the democratic system in Spain was instaured he joined the Unión de Centro Democrático (UCD/Union of Democratic Centre), being elected deputy for Cuenca in the constituent parliamentary term. He also collaborated in various Commissions and he was re‑elected in subsequent terms, I, IV, V and VI. Moreover, Gervasio Martínez‑Villaseñor practiced as Senator of Alianza Popular (AP/People's Alliance) in the III Parliamentary term.
