History:

Spanish feminist anarchist. Daughter of Francisco Portales Sirgado, and sister of Luisa and Hortensia Portales Casamar. She was a founding member of the assotiacion "Mujeres libres", and its organ of expression, the magazine "Mujeres libres". Moreover, she was an activist in the Juventudes Libertarias and the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT). A defender of the rights of the working class and the women. She became undersecretary of the Comité Nacional de Mujeres Libres. During the Spanish Civil War, she participated in all the uncontrolled activities of rearguard. Once the war was over, she exiled to London, arriving along with 184 exiles, on board of the Galatea ship, that came from Alicante. She was the partner of Acracio Ruiz, whose real name was José Molina Ortega.
