Spanish violinist and teacher.
Born on 30 April 1900 in Seville (Spain). He was concertmaster, founder and president of the Orquesta Bética de Cámara, created by Manuel de Falla. He made his debut on 10 December 1924, at the Teatro San Fernando in Seville. As president of the orchestra, he organised a series of concerts, conducted by Manuel Navarro and José Cubiles, in cities controlled by National forces during the Spanish Civil War. He was first violin in the Quinteto Clásico de Sevilla, which also included Fernando Olivares (second violin), Luis Rivas (viola), Segismundo Romero (cello) and Manuel Navarro (piano); all of them except Luis Rivas were teachers at the Conservatorio de Música de Sevilla. On 22 January 1951, he won a position at that conservatory by competitive exam, where he taught chamber music in the department, chaired by Luis Lerate. Fons was also a member of the Sexteto de Radio Sevilla and the Orquesta Bética Filarmónica. He passed away on 25 January 1981 in Seville.
