Spanish official, writer, editor, and journalist.
Born in Gijón, Asturias. Son of the lawyer and customs official in Cuba José Antonio López Sánchez, and Josefa Acebal Laviada. He studied the first year of secondary school at Instituto Jovellanos of Gijón, and he finished his studies at Escolapios de San Fernando School in Madrid. He married María de Albacete Gil Zárate, who studied at the Libre Enseñanza Institution and with whom he had two children: José María and María. His well-off economic family situation allowed him to devote himself to his literary career. He had a connection with the Committee for Extension of Studies and Scientific Research (Spain), of which he was undersecretary, and also had a connection with its general secretary José Castillejo. Furthermore, he was a member of the steering committee of the Student's Hall Residency in Madrid between 1910 and 1920. He fell ill with Parkinson and died in the Spanish capital in 1933.
