History:

Spanish archivist, member of the Cuerpo de Archiveros del Estado, which he joined under the Ley de Incorporaciones of December 12, 1887. He was in charge of the Archivo General de los Ministerios de Instrucción Pública y Fomento from July 11, 1888, performing the duties of a second-grade official. He graduated in Philosophy and Letters from the Universidad Central de Madrid and was particularly interested in educational issues, expanding and correcting texts for secondary education by Felipe Picatoste (1834-1892), an archivist, intellectual, and professor of Mathematics at the Instituto Ruiz Zorrilla in Madrid, which were awarded in various competitions. He also published a collection of educational texts on the provinces of Spain titled Descripción e historia política, eclesiástica y monumental de España as well as Cartillas de Educación Estética, which aimed to spread the lectures given by José Ramón Mélida between 1908-1911 at the Museo de Reproducciones Artísticas. He wrote several texts about Ávila, his hometown, including Tradiciones de Ávila, Ávila y los Reyes Católicos, and La Virgen de Sonseca, patrona de Ávila. He was a reporter for Diario de Ávila and contributed to the magazine "Para Todos".

Corresponding academician of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando and knight of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. He passed away in Madrid on May 22, 1913, after a long illness.
