History:

He was the eldest son of the second Marquis of Castellbell, Josep d'Amat i de Junyent, and his wife Anna de Rocabertí i de Descatllar. As he was very good at literature, he belonged to the "Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres" (Royal Academy of Fine Arts) in Barcelona, where he discussed about medals minted at the colonies and Roman municipalities in Spain on the 7th of March 1753. He married for the first time to Eulàlia de Cruilles i de Rocabertí; later, he married Maria Antonia de Peguera i Armengol. The marquisate was inherited by his son Manuel Gaietà d'Amat i de Peguera.
