Torres López, Manuel (1900-1987)

He was a Spanish professor, son of Valeriano Torres García and Encarnación López Sáez. He graduated in Philosophy and Humanities and in Law from Universidad de Granada on October 13th, 1921. He obtained his doctorate in Law from Universidad Central de Madrid in 1922.
He was professor in General History of Spanish Law at the Faculty of Law of Universidad de Salamanca from 1926 to 1940, when he transferred to Universidad de Granada. In 1941, he transferred to Universidad Central de Madrid to teach Legal Literature until 1949, when he started teaching Spanish Law. Between 1943 and 1954 he taught History of the Political and Administrative Institutions of Spain at the same university and retired in 1970.
He was also Dean of the Faculty of Law at Universidad de Salamanca from 1932 to 1939, and at Universidad Complutense de Madrid until 1956, and then again between 1968 and 1969. In 1939, he was named National Advisor of the Movement. He was also Mayor of Salamanca from 1939 to 1940 and in 1942 he was named spokesperson for the Court of Politic Responsibilities. He was also National Advisor for Education and National Economy, Secretary-Administrator of the Universidad Complutense Works Board from 1952 to 1970 and General Director of Cinematography and Theater from 1955 to 1956.
