History:

Spanish minister, senator and Law professor. He was the son of Francisco Fernández Cardín (professor and vice rector of the Literary University of Oviedo) and Petra de la Prida y Peláez. He got married to Carmen García-Mendoza y Pérez.

He started his academic training with the baccalaureate on Jurisprudence at the Institute of Oviedo. He was awarded a degree on Civil and Canonical Law by the University of Oviedo and the doctorate by the Universidad Central in Madrid.

He started his academic career being a substitute professor. He was in charge of the chair of Natural Law Principles and he was appointed professor of Public and Private International Law by the University of Seville. He was transferred to the University of Santiago, Valladolid and Madrid.

He also carried out the following activities:

Senator representing the University of Madrid.

Scholar of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, and the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation.

Minister of Grace and Justice, Minister of Government, Minister of the Marine and Minister of the State.

Member of the International Law Association and the International Law Institution.

Close friend of Adolfo González Posada y Biesca.
