Institutional History / Biography:

Alfonso Sánchez García, "Alfonso's" photographers dinasty founder, opened his sutdy in Madrid Gran Vía, after the Spanish Civil War, as his previous study (in Fuencarral Street) was destroyed by a bomb during the conflict.  His sons, Alfonso, Luis and José and his grandson Luis worked there too. The study closed at Alfonso Sánchez Portela's death in 1990.  The study decoration were mainly photographic wrks where photomontages are an important part.

Original title: "Alfonsito flying with Juan de la Cierva". 
Three images photomontage: 
-Photography 1: Alfonso Sánchez Portela in the autogiro with Juan de la Cierva. 
-Photographies 2 and 3: Cibeles Place and Prado Boulevard aerial photograph with an overlapped aerogiro. 
Autographic dedicatory: "To Alfonso, affectionately. J. de la Cierva". 
Passe-par-tout back: Alfonso Studies golden printing logotype: "20th, José Antonio Av.; 40th García Morato St. Madrid". 
 
In 1934-02-13th Juan de la Cierva arrives to Barajas airport piloting his autogiro for the first time, after an over six hours journey for traversing the distance between Madrid and Paris. The following days he was object of homage by Alejandro Lerroux government and an "aviation party" was dedicated to him. In may, 16th, assembled with Spanish graphic reporters, he proceeded to go on his autogiro with those willing to do it, Alfonso Sánchez Portela and Luis de Oteyza among them.
