History:

Friedman, Maurice Wolf was born on the 10th of March 1918 in Los Angeles, California. He studied at the Polytechnic High School in San Francisco. He worked as Seaman and was member of the Young Communist League. He sailed on the 12th of January 1937 aboard the "Aquitania" but he was arrested upon his arrival in France and jail sentenced. Also, he was scheduled for deportation but some French friends assisted him and he could cross the Pyrenees. When he arrived in Spain, he served with the Lincoln-Washington Battalion of the 15th International Brigade as Private. He was killed in action on the 2nd of April 1938 in Gandesa during the retreats.
