Barr, Reuben was born on the 2nd of July 1902 in New York City. He worked as driver, was member of the Communist Party and of the syndicate Industrial Workers of the World. He served with the 15th International Brigade, training in the MacKenzie-Papineau Battalion. Afterwards he fought with the Lincoln-Washington Battalion as Company Political Commissar. He was captured on the 4th of January 1938 in Teruel and sentenced to death but he was freed on the 24th of March 1940 and returned to the US aboard the "Exford". He died on the 25th of May 1993.
