Spanish writer who exiled in Mexico. He was born in Carolina, Jaén, in 1913. He studied Trade in Málaga. In 1935, he moved to Madrid, finished his studies of accountant and moved to Barcelona in 1935, where he worked as administrative officer. Since 1935 to 1939, he worked as journalist and clandestinely joined the Communist Party.

At the end of January 1939, he arrived to Saint Cyprien concentration camp in France. In 1940, he went to Mexico on board "Sinaia" ship and lived in Mexico City until 1953. He first worked was watchmaker and it is believed that worked in radio and advertising as well. He developed his writing skills during this period.

He founded in 1946 "Las Españas" magazine. Between 1946 and 1957, he worked in famous Mexican editorial "Fondo de Cultura Económica", something that let him to meet many journalists and writers. He was designated "Gerente de la Librería Juarez" in 1954.

He returned to Spain in 1967 and combined his interest in writing with his work in "Alianza Editorial" until 1979, when he retired to really focus on writing.

He published several novels, poems books and theatre pieces. One of the genres he dealt with was the exile.
