History:

Spanish professor, scientific, politician and writer, exiled. He was born in Majorca in 1899. He graduated in sciences from the University of Barcelona, 1921. In 1924, he occupies the position of President at the Asociación por la Cultura of Majorca. He was lecturer and professor of Natural History. In 1928 he joined La Nostra Terra and in 1930 the Republican Federal Party. He stood as a candidate for Palma, at the elections on the 12th April, 1931, but he was not elected. In the Second Republic he was chosen Councilor.

In this period he accomplished a great cultural activity that favoured the used and teaching of the Catalan language. He was founder member of Acción Republicana in Majorca, in 1932, and of Esquerra Republicana Balear, in 1934. He run his press Mallorca Nova and was one of the editors of the project of Automony Statue of Balearic Islands, in 1931. He signed the Manifesto of the Relations Committee between Catalonia and Majorca.

When the Revolution of October 1934 broke, he was removed from his charge at the local government of Palma, restored in 1935. When the Civil War broke, he was teaching in Barcelona. In July 1937 he was chosen President of the Executive Board of ERB. He continued leading Mallorca Nova.

In February 1939 he went into exile to France and was confined in the concentration camp of Argelés-sur-Mer. In May 1939, he appeared in BOE, as a refined professor, by the Court of Political Responsibilities, in Balearic Islands.

In 1940 he settled in Colombia, there he opened a bookshop and dedicated himself to university teaching of Biology, publishing different works and articles, in the magazine Cuadernos del Exilio de México. Previously he had lived in Dominican Republic. He died in Bogotá in 1956.
