She was a Spanish librarian and she earned a Doctorate in Philosophy and Literature and Law. During her studies, she was living in the ¿Residencia de Señoritas¿, a residence for girls, in Madrid and she was exchanging letters with the director, María de Maeztu. In 1921, she joined the Corps of Archivists, Librarians and Archeologists. She was able to combine her work as a librarian, first at the University of Santiago de Compostela and then at the Spanish National Library, with teaching and academic research. She was a member of the Workers' General Union (UG), a Spanish trade union, she was part of the Spanish Communist Party (PCE) and of the International Association of Friends of the Soviet Union. She was also a member of the Management Committee of the Corps of Archives, Libraries and Museums created at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War and later she was expelled from it. At the end of the conflict, she was fined and transferred to the ¿Archivo de la Delegación de Hacienda de Ciudad Real¿ , even though she would go back to the Spanish National Library, where she worked until she retired, right before her death.
