History:

Spanish librarian.

Bachelor in Philosophy and Arts from the University of Barcelona, specialised in Romanic Philology. She was the organiser of the Classes of Culture and editor of the publishing house. She joined the Cuerpo Facultativo de Archiveros, Bibliotecarios y Arqueólogos in 1966; in 1974 she was stationed at the University Library of Valladolid.

She was city councillor of Libraries in the Town Hall of Valladolid, the first and the only one that has held that position. She was elected in May 1979 by the first democratic group after the dictatorship on behalf of de UCD. She stood out for a great dynamism in infrastructure development, library management, and the promotion of education, books, and reading. To promote them, she initiated the children's library of the pavilion of Campogrande, the municipal libraries of Casa Zorrilla, and the slum Pajarillos. In her position, she boosted the creation of other municipal libraries in different parts of the city as well as the founding of the new State Public Library in the Palace of Count Benavente. She played an active role in the political and cultural life of Valladolid during the Spanish transition to democracy through initiatives, conferences, and articles about current topics published in the local press between 1970-1983, that were published for her interest in the compilation volume Diez bicicletas y Otras "yerbas" (2002). She was always concerned about current social issues of that time; she attended the International Congress of Women of 1970 and wrote about the role of women in society. She was also interested in local history and the historic-artistic heritage of the city, which she helped to preserve. She was friend of José Jiménez Lozano, who published several of her articles in El Norte de Castilla. In 1983 she was appointed director of the State Public Library of Cádiz and in 1986 headed the Public Library of Valladolid.

She was the granddaughter of Narciso Alonso Cortés, of whom she wrote a biography and edited her poetry. In 2010 she published the Ordinances of the brotherhood of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria of Valladolid, a work that revolves around the palaeographic transcription of the manuscripts of the 15th Century of her property, with historical references.
