History:

Spanish archivist-librarian, member of the Cuerpo Facultativo de Archiveros. Bibliotecarios y Arqueólogos del Estado. Philologist, historian, africanist and vascologist.

Driving force of the African studies in Spain from the Instituto de Estudios Africanos of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, in the 50s, he started the publication of many pioneer studies of the matter. Co-founder and honour president of the Asociación Española de Africanistas created in 1984, director of the Revista de Estudios Africanos. He is author, among many others, of the works Morfología y sintaxis de la lengua bujeba (1960), Historia del África negra (1974) and Etno-historia y culturas bantúes (1999).

Director of the Hemeroteca Nacional de España. Author of the catalogue Periódicos y revistas de la Guerra de la Independencia y reinado de Fernando VII (1808 1833) that exists in the Hemeroteca Nacional, published in 1981.

Context:

En los años cincuenta y sesenta del siglo XX investiga en el Archivo de la Real Chancillería de Valladolid interesado en los documentos de la Sala de Vizcaya.
