He was a Spanish professor who was born and passed away in Madrid. Son of Manuel Antonio García de Valdeavellano Cuso and Emilia de Arcimis y Mara, he married Pilar Loscertales Baylín. He began his academic education with the high school at the German School and the High School Cardenal Cisneros of Madrid. He studied History at the Central University of Madrid, where he also obtained the degree and the doctorate in Law. Due to the influence of Claudio Sánchez Albornoz he was educated in the historic investigation and the medievalism. He enjoyed a scholarship from the Board for the Extension of Studied in Paris and Berlin.

His academic career stands out because he was an assistant of Laureano Díez Canseco.

He was professor of History of Law by the University of Barcelona. He was moved to the University of Madrid to take charge of the chair of History of the Political and Administrative Institutions. Moreover, he was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Political, Economic and Commercial Sciences.

He was sanctioned and reinstated in 1939.

He collaborated as journalist in the diary La Época; in the magazine of the Annals of the University of Barcelona; in the magazine Cuadernos de Historia de España or Moneda y Crédito; and in the magazine Revista de Derecho Privado.

Editor of the magazine Anuario de Historia del Derecho Español.

Member of the APM (Press Association of Madrid); Royal Academy of History; and Portuguese Academy of History.

Secretary of the Institute of Medieval Studies.

He belonged to the administrative Corp of the National Tourism Board.
