History:

Spanish poet and playwright. Member of the Generation of ’27. García Lorca is a poet that belongs to universal literature through words, music, the scene and his own life. He is essential to known the contemporary history of the Spanish literature and culture; he shaped one whole new style getting to the roots of popular culture through the trends and forms of modernist art and poetry. In this sense, Luis de Góngora was a main inspiration for Lorca and all the poets of the ’27.

Among the most relevant scholars and biographers, and that, probably, have also got closer to García Lorca’s live and work, we find Jean-Louis Schonber, Mari Laffranque, the first one who studied Lorca’s work, Marcelle Auclaire and Ian Gibson, author of a thorough biography about the poet from Cadiz.
