History:

Spanish poet, writer and playwright. He was born in Orihuela (Alicante) and passed away in Alicante in 1942. He was a writer that belonged to the literary Generation of ’36 but also very linked to the Generation of ’27. He is the prototype of poet committed to the Republican cause.

Important communist activist, political commissar of the 11th Divission of the Spanish Republican Army during the Civil War.

When the conflict was over he was imprisoned and sentenced to death. His sentence was commuted for 30 years in jail. He passed away at the infirmary of the jail of Alicante due to tuberculosis in 1942, at the age of 31.
