Spanish lawyer, politician and writer. She was a feminist and one of the greatest figures of the Spanish history of the 20th century.

Daughter of Manuel Campoamor, accountant, and María Pilar Rodríguez, dressmaker. She graduated from Law and she processed the first divorces.

The modification of the electoral law in 1931 allowed women over 23 to be elected deputies in Cortes. Clara Campoamor, along Victoria Kent and Margarita Nelken were the only three women that obtained a seat during the Second Republic. She defended in the Congress the right for women to vote, against Victoria Kent.

She was President of the Republican Women's Union, General Director of Charity, and Deputy in Cortes for Madrid.

With the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War she went into exile, first to Lausanne (Switzerland) and then to Buenos Aires (Argentina). She passed away in Lausanne in 1972 when she was 84 years old.
