Spanish religious and politician. He was born in Villalpando (1580) and died in Madrid (1645), although he was buried in the Cathedral of Toledo.
He trained at the University of Alcalá de Henares, where he was a colleague of the Colegio Mayor de San Ildefonso, becoming a doctor of Theology (1609).
As a religious he was canon and archdeacon of the Cathedral of Cuenca, Bishop of Albano, archbishop of Seville, archbishop of Toledo. And he was present in the conclaves of Gregory XV (1621) and Urban VIII (1623).
As a politician he was the ambassador of Spain in Rome and "protector of the churches of Spain", viceroy of Naples (1620), counselor of State (1623) and president of the Council of Aragon (1636).
Son of the VI Duke of Gandía, Francisco de Borja and Juana Enriquez de Velasco.
Brother of Carlos de Borja and Baltasar Borja.
