Spanish exiled architect, son of sculptor Mariano Benlliure y Gil (1962-1947) and singer Lucrecia López de Arana (1871-1927), nephew of painters José and Juan Antonio Benlliure and cousin of painter José Benlliure Ortiz (1884-1916). He studied higher secondary-education course in Madrid and later in London until 1914. He joined the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid and was in contact with the "Residencia de Estudiantes" of Madrid. He worked in the "Junta de Construcciones Escolares" in 1928 and in the Royal Theatre repairing.
He married Soledad Galán Guerra and had two children: José Luis and Lucrecia Benññiure Galán. During the Spanish Civil War, he was part of the commission that protected the Artistic National Treasure.
In 1937, he moved to Valencia and joined the army as engineer. When the war was over, he was sent to Saint Cyprien concentration camp (France), from where he got out with the help of Marshal Petain. He exiled with his all his family in Veracruz (Mexico) on board "Flandre" ship.
In 1941, he worked as architect and painter for professional magazines in Mexico City. He returned to Spain in 1948 and settled in Mallorca and in Madrid one year later.
