History:

Duncan, Lowell Oswalt was born on February 1909 in Wheeler County, Shamrock, Texas. He attended to the Polytechnic College in Billings, Montana, for 1 year. He worked in the construction and as moving picture projectionist. He joined the Communist Party in 1937. He arrived in Spain on April 1937 and joined the Communist Party of Spain on the 5th of May 1938. He served with in the Lincoln Battalion of the 15th International Brigade in Albacete. Afterwards he served as military nurse in the Rakosi Battalion of the 150th International Brigade, in the 12th International Brigade, in the 13th International Brigade and in the 15th Army Corps. Also he served in the 35th Division as sanitary inspector. He was wounded in action by shrapnel in the leg and returned to the United States on the 20th of December 1938 aboard the "Ausonia". He served in the Second World War in the United States Army Air Corps, as gasoline truck driver, with the rank of Private First Class. He died on the 29th of December 1979.
