Important Spanish parasitologist doctor, son of naturalist Odón de Buen and Rafaela Lozano Rey.
He made a PhD of Medicine in the "Universidad Central de Madrid" with a thesis about malaria. As doctor and health worker, he trained by his borther and master's side, Sadí, who he made several collaborations with. They both worked in the "Instituto Antipalúdico" of Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres), where they collaborated with Gustavo Pittaluga. He married Carmen Lladó Sucarat and were parents of Maricel and Nuria de Buen Lladó. During the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), he was imprisoned. He was not able to go to Mexico until 1951. Once there, he focused on clinical and parasite biology in the "Hospital Español".
