Spanish Professor of Law, first-born of professor Odón de Buen y del Cos and Rafaela Lozano y Rey. He married his maternal aunt, Paz Lozano Rey, and were parents of 4 children.
He started the higher secondary-education course in 1907 in the Barcelona High School and continued with a degree of Laws in the University of Barcelona and a PhD in the "Universidad Central de Madrid". He was granted a scholarship by the "Junta de Ampliación de Estudios" (JAE) in the University of Halle (Germany) and by the University of Seville to study Comparative Civil Law in France. His academic career stood out for being designated professor of Spanish Civil Common and Regional Law in the University of Salamanca, and professor of Civil Law in the University of Seville.
He moved to Madrid when the II Republic was established and was member of the Advisory Legal Committee of the Ministry of Justice, and one year later was President of the Fifth Chamber of the Supreme Court of Civil Law, post that he held until he left Spain in 1939. However, he was dismissed in 1937.
He exiled in France, Panama and Mexico. During the exile, he was teacher of Civil Law in the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences in the University of Panama. He was also Grand Master of the GOE (Grande Oriente Español) during the II Republic and carried out many government bills that were renovated within the Techincal Committee of the "Junta Española de Liberación" (JEL) in 1944.

President of the Labor Council, the People's Court of Civil Liabilities, and the Department of Foreign Complaints of the Supreme Court.
