Exiled Spanish biologist. Daughter of Sadí de Buen Lozano, a parasitologist doctor who died during the Spanish Civil War, and Berta López de Heredia. Siblings: Sadí, Berta and Óscar de Buen López de Heredia. On her father's side she was the granddaughter of Odón de Buen del Cos, founder of the "Spanish Institute of Oceanography"; on her mother's side, granddaughter of the Riojan winemaker Rafael López de Heredia.
She began her exile in 1936, after the shooting of her father in Cordoba. After passing through Barcelona and France, she went into exile in Mexico, arriving in Nuevo Laredo (Tamaulipas, Mexico) on 1 November 1940. She went with her siblings Berta and Óscar. Her other brother, Sadí, was already in exile in Mexico City. She married the Mexican Francisco Biagi Filizola, father of the Mexican parasitology.
