History:

She graduated in Philosophy and Arts at the Central University. She was the daughter of Pedro Caamaño and Adoración Díaz. She married the painter Ricardo Fuente Alcocer. She was a member of the Girls' University Youth's founding core, an association founded by María de Maeztu and Clara Campoamor in 1920, and of the School University Federation (FUE), the republican student movement that opposed Primo de Rivera's dictatorship. She worked as a general secretary of the Latin/Hispanic American Student Union. She was detained together with Pepita Callao Minguez in 1929 at the General Directorate of Security and imprisoned at the jail of Quiñones. They were both accused of the decapitation of Alfonso XIII's bust at Central University's auditorium. She entered the Centre for Historical Studies together with Claudio Sánchez Albornoz and the National Historical Archive as a public servant of the Corps of Archivists, Librarians, and Antiquarians. She was a member of the Committee for the artistic heritage's seizure and defence (Junta de Incautación y Defensa del Patrimonio Artístico), since she was committed to the Republic's defence. She entered the PCE* in 1937 and worked as a governor in Cuenca by the end of the Civil War. She was detained in Alicante's port and was imprisoned with her newborn baby. She was also expelled from the Corps of Archivists through the Order issued on the 29th of July 1939. She was let out of prison on parole in 1946. However, she could not recover her position of archivist until the arrival of democracy. She became again a member of the Spanish Association of University Women in 1953. She also continued her communist affiliation. Therefore, she is considered a pioneer and an activist that fought for women's rights.
